Violence Free Faith
Founded in 2022, Violence Free Faith is an inter-faith nonprofit organization committed to the belief that everyone deserves a life free from violence and abuse.
The organization works in two main areas:
- To prevent and respond to religious abuse by promoting safety, accountability, and healing within faith communities through training, consultation, and collaboration with faith communities
- To partner with national, state, and local social service providers to help them engage more effectively with faith communities in supporting survivors of abuse.
Board Details:
This is a working board; board members will be actively engaged in the operations of the organization at this time. In the near future, we’ll hire staff and transition the board to a governing board.
Board members serve a three-year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms.

All board meetings are held virtually via Zoom. The board meets approximately six times per year (every other month). Board members must commit to attending at least four meetings annually and, if unable to attend, are expected to review the meeting minutes afterward.
Treasurer – Board of Directors
The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Directors, responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial health and integrity. This role ensures transparent and responsible financial stewardship and helps guide strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Steward Financial Integrity: Handle all financial matters with transparency and high ethical standards, setting a tone of accountability and trust.
- Oversee Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of all financial documents, including tax filings and state compliance reports.
- Manage Financial Risk: Identify financial risks and work with the board to develop policies that safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Verify Contributions: Confirm that all donations and contributions are properly recorded and acknowledged in compliance with regulations.
- Budgeting: Collaborate with the board and staff to develop, monitor, and evaluate the annual budget in alignment with organizational goals.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and presentation of clear, timely financial reports to the board, ensuring collective understanding of the organization’s financial position.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- Background in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
- Experience in nonprofit financial management, budgeting, or auditing strongly preferred.
Prior board service or governance experience is an asset.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of nonprofit accounting standards and IRS requirements.
- Ability to interpret and clearly communicate financial data to board members with varying levels of financial expertise.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with financial software or accounting systems.
