Hi! We are Violence Free Faith! We would love to get to know you better, so we thought we would introduce ourselves!

Theresa Galán-Bruce, DMin., LCSW-S

(She/Her/Hers)

Dr. Galán-Bruce joined Violence Free Faith’s Board of Directors in the summer of 2024 and became the Board Secretary that autumn.

Dr. Theresa Galán-Bruce, DMin., LCSW holds two Master’s degrees, one in Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio and another in Theology from Oblate School of Theology. She completed her Doctor of Ministry with a concentration in Spirituality at Oblate School of Theology. Her dissertation focused on a practitioner’s concept of Spirituality and how that informed the Use of Self in practice.

As a social worker, she began her career working with the chronically unhoused population and individuals involved in the criminal justice system. In her current role, Dr. Galán-Bruce serves as clinical director at Transformation House, which is a transition home for women and children who have experienced trauma stemming from family violence. A major area of interest for her is spiritual abuse. Given her background in both social work and theology, Dr. Galán-Bruce is uniquely attuned to the relationship between Intimate Partner Violence / Domestic Violence and Spiritual / Religious abuse.

We are honored to have her as part of our founding board of directors and are continually enriched by her wisdom, knowledge, and expertise!
